British Stickmakers Guild

Established in 1984, The British Stickmaker’s Guild was set up by a small group of people interested in the ancient craft of making canes and walking sticks. Now a national organisation, the Guild has grown to house over 2000 members, and is set to showcase their inspiring works of art at this year’s Highclere Show.

The BSG will also be bringing back the British & UK National Stickmaking Competition with qualifying rounds at Highclere Show. Over the years the competition has become hugely popular with more and more people entering into the classes. For 2020, the National Competition will involve 14 main classes for the more experienced, and a further 4 novice classes for all newbies wishing to take part and who will not have entered any stickmaking competition before January 2020. In the novice class there’s also a ‘Best in Show’ category at each event.

Along with the British Stickmaker’s Guild, Highclere welcomes a wide variety of traditional crafts and rural practices from some of the most highly skilled crafts men and women in the UK. This year’s Highclere Show has countryside pursuits for everyone to enjoy.
